Jordan's Blog Post!
Today a small team of girls shoveled sand and mixed cement with our worker Oto to pave over a small courtyard that would frequently flood when it rained. After pulling a ton of weeds and grass, we leveled the ground, and began spreading concrete all over. It was hot and tiresome work but the excitement on the girls' faces when they saw what we were doing for them made it all worth it. After lunch, we took about 30 kids from the fundación to the Mayan ruins to wander and play for about two hours. The kids were all about 8-12 in age and absolutely fearless, climbing huge ancient structures like they were jungle gyms. Later at the girls' home we played freeze dodgeball, built castles out of pasta & marshmallows, and painted their clay crafts from yesterday. Next is a bonfire at the fundación complete with s'mores!
