Lexi's blog post (day 1)
We have finally made it in Guatemala! It was a long night and early morning of traveling. We had a 5 hour red eye flight followed by a 5 hour bus ride. So far everyone has gotten to know each other and we are getting along fantastically. Our first day here in HueHue was spent getting settled into the house we will be staying at for the next four days. It is really cute with brightly painted walls and cute bunk beds. After moving our stuff in we had lunch and then visited the orphanage for two hours. It was so fun and heart warming to be around so many children. We were all so excited to be meeting each other. I wandered into the baby and toddler room and offered my help to a few Guatemalan women who were changing the young babies. One woman handed me a little boy named Emilio and asked me to change his outfit. As soon as I was done he would let me put him down so i took him out on the playground with me. We held onto each other for the remainder of our time together. After the orphanage we spent two hours at the girls' home and just hung out and got to know the women and their children. We are all really tired now and waiting for dinner and will probably go to sleep shortly after!
